The magnificent nature and scenery, rich culture, and peaceful atmosphere of Dilijan National Park have long attracted both domestic and international travelers.
A. Khanjyan’s villa and brick house are the integral parts of the multifunctional complex project in Dilijan. Within the framework of the mentioned project, the comprehensive restoration planned for these distinctive buildings aims to breathe new life into them, restoring their former charm and splendor.
Situated in the hills with a magnificent view of Dilijan, Aghasi Khanjian’s mansion has borne witnessed the country’s major historical events. Constructed in the 1930s, the building is distinguished by its original architecture and interior. “Currently, expert groups are investigating the reasons behind the partial collapse of the building over the last decade. This crucial analysis will guide the adoption of more effective restoration methods,” explains Davit Nahatakyan, the chief architect of the project.
The research phase of the renovation works of “Aghasi Khanjyan’s Villa” is currently underway. The architect of the project, David Nahatakyan, along with a team of international experts are carrying out expert work in the area adjacent to the resort, which is expected to be completed this autumn. Only after completion of this phase the fate of the architectural monument will be definitively determined.
If the results of the research are positive, then the renovation works of the building will commence, and it will be used for other purposes as well. However, if the results of the investigation indicate that any intervention could damage the structure, “Khanjyan’s Villa” will be reinforced and preserved solely as a site for sightseeing.
Various summerhouse activities are under consideration, ranging from immersive theater to a multimedia museum. The ultimate decision will involve the participation of esteemed Armenian public figures.
