Dilijan has taken an important step toward more transparent and data-informed urban development with the launch of its first public air quality monitoring station on the global IQAir platform.
Installed by Green Rock, the station provides continuous, real-time data on key air quality indicators, including PM2.5, fine airborne particles that can affect human health, and the Air Quality Index (AQI). At the time of launch, Dilijan is recording good air quality, with very low levels of PM2.5, reflecting the town’s clean natural environment.
The station is now integrated into IQAir, an independent, internationally recognized platform that aggregates and visualizes air quality data from cities around the world. By contributing data to this global network, Dilijan becomes part of a broader system of environmental monitoring, making its air quality visible both locally and internationally.
Public access to this data creates new opportunities for understanding and managing the urban environment. Real-time air quality information allows for the identification of pollution patterns across different areas of the city, including those affected by traffic, construction, or dense development. It also supports the evaluation of environmental measures, helping to assess whether interventions such as traffic regulation or infrastructure improvements are having the intended impact.
In addition, access to reliable data enables more informed decision-making in urban planning. From optimizing transport flows to guiding the development of green spaces and public infrastructure, air quality data becomes a practical tool for shaping a healthier and more balanced urban environment.
This station currently represents the only active IQAir reporting point in Dilijan, connecting the town to a global network of cities that monitor and respond to air quality in real time.
For Green Rock, the initiative reflects a broader commitment to long-term, responsible development. As a company rooted in Dilijan, Green Rock focuses on creating large-scale territorial projects that integrate infrastructure, culture, education, and economy. The introduction of air quality monitoring is part of a wider approach that prioritizes data-driven planning, environmental awareness, and urban resilience.
Through its social arm, Green Rock Foundation, the company also supports initiatives in community development, ecology, culture, and education, contributing to more inclusive and context-aware environments for sustainable growth.
The launch of the IQAir station marks an early but important step toward building a more resilient, informed, and healthy future for Dilijan.
