We can say that I got to “Green Rock ” by accident, due to my previous job I got to know the director of Green Rock company, and then I got an offer to join the team. I already had the desire to change my previous job, it coincided with the offer to fill the vacant position, so after a few months I started working as a financial director.
– When we say financial director, we always imagine a serious, strict person, for whom everything revolves around numbers, do you share that approach?
My first work experience was not as a financial director. And all the financial directors I met had a strict position, and no employee ever approached them with any question. I don’t know if this is the right approach for the organization in terms of maintaining hierarchy or not, but I think that an organization that is new and has ambitious plans should create a family environment and a close corporate culture. According to statistics, a newly established organization works more in the first 2 years than in the following 3-4 years, therefore we must be as quick as possible in our decisions, naturally not losing the ethics of work relations.
– Levon, how is your day at the office?
My day mainly consists of numbers, I like to sit quietly and work. As soon as I feel that I need a rest, I approach my colleagues, exchange a couple of words, joke, and go back to the numbers.
If we exclude the members of our excellent team from Dilijan, there is only one male representative in the Yerevan office – me, besides our director. Accordingly, as the financial director, I also deal with all other issues: take, put, help, move.)
– You like numbers, but what is not to your liking in the work environment?
I am one of the few people who do not like the rapid development of social networks because they replace almost everything. If in the past there was one common phone and we made only a few calls during the day, today there are many means by which people communicate, therefore social networks have also become a work tool. I would really like them to provide only the entertainment part, so that our attention could be more focused on work.
– If you did not choose the profession of financial specialist, what would you like to do?
In other equal conditions, I would like to be a children’s football coach. If the industry was a little more solvent, I would definitely be a coach, because educating the next generation is one of the most important issues. In my case it would be in the form of football.
– Do you have any special methods for building successful business relationships?
In my opinion, in the Caucasian countries the most successful option is to establish interpersonal contact, allowing to reach the next business point more easily. Small talk is a working and necessary option for us.
– But does close interpersonal contact prevent the formation of clear professional boundaries?
What you said is the opposite of what I said, which is, of course, equally true. But don’t forget that our country, our city is very small, and that European coldness will not become famous here for a long time.
– What literature do you read?
Maximum humorous 🙂
I like to read books that try to make people happy, because people joke about what hurts and excites them.
– Is the last book you read also from the humor genre?
Yes, the latest is the novel called “The Adventures of Schweik“. It is about war, from a humorous point of view. You understand that even in the most difficult situation you can joke, and the key to solving every problem lies in smiling and communicating.
– And what is the last movie you watched?
It is an Italian film called “La grande bellezza” released in 2013. The 65-year-old writer begins to think about the meaning of life after stardom.
At the end, I want to add that I have great hope that our company will succeed in Dilijan projects. I have even greater hope that after success we will not limit ourselves to Dilijan, because I am a big advocate of the position that Yerevan should be decentralized.
– The traditional question of this series : coffee or tea?
Tea, definitely.
