– My entry into “Green Rock” was quite intriguing. At the time, the company lacked an HR department, and the suggestion for me to assume the role of the Head of the Marketing and PR department came from our financial director, Levon.
The proposal was attractive and had several merits. Addressing the challenge of implementing creative ideas and large-scale projects to life is a common struggle for marketing specialists in Armenia. This is largely due to frequently encountering constraints such as limited marketing budgets or restrictions that do not align with the vision of the founders. Although “Green Rock” maintains strict standards in marketing, it provides complete freedom for creativity. The company places trust in its specialists and encourages the implementation of innovative approaches not previously explored in the field, without imposing any obstacles. In essence, at “Green Rock,” I have the liberty to bring my ideas to fruition.
Typically, people venture into entrepreneurship after gaining extensive experience in public or private enterprises. In your situation, the opposite occurred:
– The fashion marketing company still exists, and my team continues to operate independently, providing services to businesses in the fashion industry. Essentially, we’ve minimized my direct involvement in the day-to-day operations.
There is a common misconception that owning a business is primarily motivated by the desire to avoid having a boss and to enjoy the freedom of planning one’s own daily life. Fortunately, I don’t face such a challenge at “Green Rock.” Being part of a large team is surprisingly pleasant; they take care of me, and I don’t bear the responsibility of overseeing others. I receive a salary, and I’m not tasked with managing the financial aspects)))
Do you find it challenging to simultaneously work on multiple projects? How do you go about organizing and planning your daily schedule? What stands out as the most enjoyable moment in your work?
– At “Green Rock,” an employee is highly esteemed, surpassing the value placed on individuals in any other Armenian company. The company makes every effort to ensure that its employees do not find a superior alternative within Armenia. The most gratifying aspect undoubtedly lies in the care provided and the opportunities for continuous learning, skill development, and the expansion of business contacts.
Given my experience with a marketing agency, I’m accustomed to handling up to 20 projects concurrently. Planning and executing numerous projects simultaneously is a familiar routine for me. I typically allocate the initial part of my day to reviewing my team’s work, planning upcoming tasks, and then engaging in calls and meetings as the day progresses.
Which is the most challenging aspect of your job?
– Our company was founded in February of last year, but for a considerable time, operated without a dedicated marketing team. As projects, various arrangements and agreements piled up, the need for a marketing team became apparent. Therefore, the most challenging period was the initial month, when we had to adjust, manage, and fill in the gaps from the preceding months. We’ve largely addressed these issues, allowing us to transition to ongoing strategic initiatives.
The most demanding aspect now is the swift response to changes and adapting the team’s workflow to match that pace.
The team comprises top-notch specialists in their respective fields. What kind of corporate culture has been established?
– The ultimate outcome holds paramount importance for the individuals gathered here, all of whom are professionals in their respective fields and share common goals. Despite the grand scale of our business projects, as highlighted by our financial director Levon in his interview, we currently prioritize warm and cordial communication within the team. At this stage of our activities, there is a concerted effort to facilitate the seamless integration of new members into our processes.
It’s interesting to note that many of us share similar interests. Our development director, Vanane, is from the fashion industry, and we have frequent discussions about clothing and the industry in general outside of work. Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that Levon’s favorite film, “The Great Beauty,” happens to be one of my favorites as well.
Which is your favorite film?
– I have a great admiration for director Sorrentino; I thoroughly enjoy almost all of his films, with “Youth” being a particular favorite. For those with an interest in the arts, I highly recommend the film “Final Portrait,” dedicated to my favorite sculptor, Alberto Giacometti. Among actors, I have a fondness for Vincent Cassel and Javier Bardem, having watched nearly all of their films. Additionally, for fashion enthusiasts, the film “Mademoiselle C” offers a captivating glimpse into the world of Carine Roitfeld, the editor-in-chief of French Vogue, and unveils many intriguing aspects.
And, in general, can you allocate time for reading and watching movies as you are in charge of managing two significant large-scale roles simultaneously?
– During my teenage years, I held myself to high standards, and if I ever found myself too busy to read or watch a movie, it would cause me concern. This tendency has persisted, and I still make a conscious effort to make time for these activities. While I didn’t always have an affinity for motivational literature, I never delved into it. In my school years, I immersed myself in a vast amount of fiction, and during my student years, I gravitated towards professional literature.
– Today, in addition to professional and fictional literature, I find interest in reading Nzhdeh. I would be eager for the youth’s perspective on the “Tribal Religion” to evolve differently.
I’ve been immersed in a book about the Cartier brand for the past three months. It’s a captivating read, although the small font size makes it challenging. Compared to the pace of Vardanank novel, it’s the slowest book I’ve tackled.
Typically, books on brands don’t captivate me, and I read them more out of a sense of duty to stay well-informed. However, Cartier is a fascinating phenomenon that truly intrigues me.
The brand, which catered to the royal family and the elite, is perceived differently in our country. The most celebrated pieces from the brand are highly cherished in our society, a sentiment that I find challenging to comprehend and appreciate. Reading the book provides a deeper understanding of the brand’s origins and the history behind its iconic design. Interestingly, the author of the book is the granddaughter of the brand’s founder, who, in the process of writing, incorporated her father’s letters.
And finally, the traditional question from this series: tea or coffee?
– Several years ago, I would have leaned towards tea, but today, without a doubt, I would choose coffee. My preference for coffee is not just for its energizing effects; I genuinely love its taste. I make it a point to regularly sample coffee from various cafes and specialized shops in the city to explore different flavors.
